Data General Product Number Notes
Data General utilized a systematic code to uniquely identify each individual document or part. This "Product Number" is typically an 11-digit number which has a format similar to this example:

The Prefix is a three (3) digit number that indicates the general class of a document or part. In the example above the '001' prefix indicates that this number refers to a schematic.
The Item Number is a six (6) digit number that uniquely identifies the particular item. The '000088' in the example indicates a Nova 1200 CPU schematic.
The Suffix is a two (2) digit number indicating the revision level. The '15' in the example indicates the 15th revision of the schematic.

The Wild Hare archives reflect the DG product numbering scheme whenever possible. Document filenames start with the corresponding Data General product number and follow with a text description or title. Different source copies of the same document are all preserved, and are given a 3-digit numeric suffix (i.e. "000", "001", "002", etc.) for uniqueness. Poor quality originals or copies of documents are indicated with a '.c' suffix, and partial documents are indicated with a '.p' suffix.
